Today I put a set of FM Frame Rails on the '91 today. It really firmed up the chassis. I had a friend help me out at his brother's shop. It was totally awesome. Picture a Miata driver/racer's dream shop, and that was it. No SR20 as my hands were covered in grease.
The bad news is, it looks like the water pump gasket is leaking. Which means I need a $5 part and then 8+ hours of working on the car...

I did the 120k service last may and replaced the pump. Somehow, the gasket has started leaking. I found out when we put it on the lift.

Because it's a royal pain in the ass. A friend has it on his car and is actually going to pull it off because it keeps rattling against the exhaust.
Also, I got the rails for $100 with 10 miles on them from a local guy parting out his car. New with butterfly brace is $450 shipped.

The butterfly brace makes a big difference, but from hearing what a few owners are saying, it's almost more trouble than it's worth. Either way, the frame rails were a big improvement. I noticed immediately. It gets rid of the jittery sloppiness that is in the chassis. Paired with the shock tower brace, it's much stiffer with less cowl shake. Frog arms are the next upgrade along with a rear subframe and rear shock tower brace. That should get the chassis really solid.
